Why We Created Lekker Initiative
Every small-town destination we feature — from roasteries and bakeries to taprooms and farm stalls — brings something special to South Africa’s story. But just beyond the charming storefronts and scenic drives are communities in deep need of care, dignity, and support.
That’s where Lekker Initiative comes in.
We’ve set a bold goal: raise R200 000 every month and send 100% of it directly to registered South African charities doing hands-on, life-changing work — especially with vulnerable and abandoned children.
We’re calling on every business that benefits from being featured on lekkerpassport.com to give back.

Where Your Support Goes
The primary focus of Lekker Initiative is to support a safe haven in a rural farming community in KwaZulu-Natal — a place that offers shelter, care, and love to children in their most vulnerable moments.
Many of the little ones who arrive here come from heartbreaking circumstances — abandoned, neglected, or removed from unsafe environments. Some stay for a day, others for months or even years. From newborns to toddlers, each child is given warmth, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
Beyond the home itself, the charity supports the surrounding informal settlement with food, employment, and skills development — building into the community with purpose and heart.
